Sports Picker is a product of ResQWare LLC, a New Hampshire limited liability company ("ResQWare", "we", "us"). We run sports-picker.app, a website for running friendly sports prediction pools. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep it short because we collect very little.
What we collect
- Account details: your name and email address, and a scrambled (hashed) version of your password. We never store your actual password.
- Pool activity: the pools you belong to, your picks, tiebreaker guesses, your avatar choice, and the messages, stickers and GIFs you post in pool chats.
- Commissioner entries: names and email addresses a commissioner adds when inviting players, plus pool settings, prizes and custom schedules.
- Sign-in and purchase records: when you sign up, log in or start a checkout, we record the time, your IP address, an approximate location (city and region, from the IP address) and your browser and device type. For purchases we also keep what you agreed to at checkout, payment details Stripe shares with us (such as card brand, last four digits and its security checks, never the full card number), and copies of the emails we sent you. We use these records to keep accounts secure, prevent fraud and respond to payment disputes.
- Questions to Tucker and schedule imports: what you type into Ask Tucker, and the files, text or links you give the schedule importer.
- Technical data: basic request logs (such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested) kept by our hosting provider for security and troubleshooting. We use the IP address to limit abuse of Ask Tucker.
Cookies
We use one cookie of our own, which keeps you logged in, and we save a few preferences in your browser (for example, whether the chat panel is open). Our own features don't use tracking pixels, and we never sell or rent your name, email or pool activity. To see which features get used, we keep daily totals (for example, how many picks were saved on a given day) that contain no names, emails or account IDs. If the app hits an error in your browser, it sends us the error message and the page it happened on so we can fix it, without your name or email. We also use Google Analytics to understand which pages people visit and how they find us. It sets its own cookies (named _ga) with a random ID, never your name or email, and we turn off Google's advertising features for it. Google Analytics doesn't load at all if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal or you turn on "Do not sell or share" on the Your privacy choices page, and visitors in the EU, UK and Switzerland get no analytics cookies. In pools that show ads, our advertising partners may use their own cookies, as described below.
Sponsored messages and advertising partners
Free pools may show one clearly labeled ad on some pages. There are two kinds:
- Direct sponsors we work with ourselves. They're chosen by the sport the pool plays, never by anything personal about you. We count views and clicks in total only, and we never share your name, email or activity with sponsors.
- Advertising partners, such as Google AdSense, which fill the space when no direct sponsor is running. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. Learn more at How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
You can turn off personalized ads on our Your Privacy Choices page, in Google's Ad Settings, or for many ad networks at aboutads.info. We honor the Global Privacy Control browser signal as an opt-out. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent before ad cookies are used.
Ad partners' code only loads on pages that show an ad. Anyone with Ad-free or Commissioner Pro, everyone in Pro commissioners' pools and pools made ad-free, and Pool Pass commissioners in their own pool see no ads, and ad partners' code never loads for them. Clicking an ad takes you to the advertiser's website, where its own privacy policy applies.
How we use it
- To run your pools: show leaderboards, lock and reveal picks, and keep score.
- To send emails you'd expect: invites, pick reminders, @mention alerts and schedule updates for commissioners. You can turn off reminders and mention emails in your profile or with the link in any reminder email.
- To answer your questions in Ask Tucker and read schedules you import.
- To keep the service secure and fix problems.
Who can see what
Other members of a pool can see your name, avatar, picks (after they lock), standings and chat messages in that pool. Commissioners can see the names and email addresses of members in pools they run. Public and featured pools show the leaderboard to anyone with the link.
Service providers
We use a small number of companies to run the service. They only get what they need to do their job:
- Cloudflare hosts the website and database and provides AI processing (Workers AI). We may also use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without tracking you across other sites.
- Resend delivers our emails.
- Google Analytics (Google LLC) counts visits and page views so we can see what's working. Its advertising features are turned off. See how Google uses data from sites that use its services.
- ZIP code data for "Near you" comes from GeoNames (licensed under CC BY 4.0) and the U.S. Census Bureau. Your location or ZIP is used in your browser and in the request for nearby pools only; we don't store it.
- Google (AdSense) may show ads in free pools and uses cookies to do so, as described above.
- Stripe processes payments for paid plans. Card details go straight to Stripe; we never see or store them.
- GIPHY provides GIF search. Your search words are sent to GIPHY; your name and email are not.
- Anthropic may provide AI processing for Ask Tucker and schedule imports. What you type or upload is sent to answer your request. Please don't include personal or sensitive information.
- ESPN's public data feeds supply schedules and scores. No personal information is sent to them.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and pool history while your account is active so past leaderboards stay intact. Chat messages can be deleted by the person who posted them or by a commissioner. Server logs are kept for a limited time by our hosting provider. Sign-in and purchase records are kept for up to 2 years (longer for a purchase that is under dispute) and then deleted. If you ask us to delete your account, we remove your personal details and either delete or anonymize your picks and messages.
Your choices and rights
You can update your avatar, email and notification preferences anytime in your profile, and turn off personalized ads on Your Privacy Choices. We don't sell your personal information for money. When ad partners use cookies to personalize ads, some US state laws treat that as a "sale" or "sharing," and you can opt out on that page. To see, correct, export or delete your information, email support@sports-picker.app from the address on your account. Depending on where you live (for example California or the European Union), you may have additional rights under local law, and we will honor valid requests.
Children
Sports Picker is not intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact us and we will delete it. Sponsored pools with prizes are limited to adults (18+).
Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords and limited access to data. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a password you don't use elsewhere.
Changes
If we make meaningful changes to this policy, we will update the date above and, for significant changes, let account holders know by email or on the site.
